Products Description

Aspartame, with the chemical name aspartyl phenylalanine methyl ester, is an artificially synthesized dipeptide-based sweetener. It is a white crystalline powder with a sweetness approximately 180-200 times that of sucrose. It has extremely low calories (about 4 kilocalories per gram, as the usage is very small, so the calories can be ignored). Aspartame was accidentally discovered by American chemists in 1965, and was approved for use by the US FDA in 1981. It has now been licensed in nearly 100 countries and regions worldwide. Its most prominent feature is its pure and refreshing sweetness, which is extremely similar to sucrose, without a bitter aftertaste or metallic taste. It is hailed as the sweetener that is closest to sucrose to date. Aspartame can be rapidly metabolized and decomposed in the human body into aspartic acid, phenylalanine and methanol. It does not participate in sugar metabolism and does not cause a significant increase in blood sugar. It is suitable for people with diabetes to consume.

Application

I. Food and Beverage Industry
Various beverages: Widely used in carbonated beverages (such as sugar-free cola), fruit juices, sports drinks, solid drinks, etc., providing a refreshing sweetness very similar to sucrose without increasing calories. It is currently one of the most mainstream artificial sweeteners in sugar-free beverages. Products like Coca-Cola Diet Coke and Zero Coke mainly use aspartame as the sweetener source.
Candies and Chewing Gum: Used in sugar-free candies, gelatin-based candies (chewing gum), chocolates, etc. They do not cause tooth decay and have a longer sweetening duration than sucrose (about 4 times longer), making them particularly suitable for the needs of chewing gum products.
Dairy products and frozen beverages: Added to products such as flavored fermented milk, fortified milk, ice cream, and ice lollies, they provide sweetness without increasing calorie intake. Suitable for low-sugar and sugar-controlled dairy products.
Preserved fruits and fruit products: Used in fruit dried products, jam, preserved fruits and other products, to provide sweet flavor and work in conjunction with color protection.
Flavor enhancement and blending application: Aspartame has a significant synergistic effect on acidic fruit flavors (such as citrus, lemon, lime, etc.), which can make the aroma last longer and reduce the amount of flavoring agent. When used in combination with other sweeteners like saccharin, it can mask the unpleasant taste of saccharin. Aspartame is also often used in conjunction with sweeteners like acesulfame and trichlorosucrose to achieve a flavor closer to that of sucrose.
II. Medicine and Health Supplements
Drug flavoring agents: Used in syrup preparations, lozenges, oral liquids and other pharmaceuticals, they are used to mask bitterness and improve the taking experience. They are particularly suitable for children's medications and those for diabetes patients.
Health supplements and dietary supplements: Added to health products such as vitamin lozenges, calcium tablets, protein powder, etc., they provide sweetness without increasing calories.
III. Cosmetics and Personal Care Products
Oral care products: Used to provide sweetness in toothpaste and mouthwash, improving the taste and preventing tooth decay.
Lip care products: Added to lip balms and other products as a sweetener.
