Menthol, also known as menthol alcohol or menthol ice, is a white crystalline organic compound extracted from the leaves and stems of mint. It is the main component of mint and mint essential oil. It has a distinctive mint aroma and initially feels hot before becoming cool. This unique "cooling sensation" stems from its ability to activate the cold sensation receptors (TRPM8 receptors) on the skin and mucous membranes, generating a "simulated coolness" neural signal. Due to its multiple benefits such as cooling, anti-itching, refreshing, and fragrance, menthol is widely used in the food, medicine, cosmetics, and industrial sectors.

I. Food and Beverage Industry
Perfume and cooling agents: Menthol is one of the most widely used cooling-type flavorings in the food industry. It is widely used in products such as candies (especially mint candies), chewing gum, chocolate, ice cream, baked goods, and soft drinks, imparting a unique cooling taste and mint aroma to the products.
